THE PROBLEM OF DIVINATION AND SORCERY

CONFESSIONS OF AN Occultist

T

his life is indeed a scary one as our parents and friends tell us. One just has to be careful in his walk in this world. Yet, at the same time, we must make sure we impart the good news to those around us in order to make an impact on our generation. The story I’m about to share with you is a true life confession of an occultist I met in school who by the grace of God has now seen the light. Hallelujah! By his permission of course, I write this message to you all to read and be motivated to cling onto God for time is running out.

He told me he was just 11 years at the time he got introduced by a friend to a man who was involved in spirituality and divination – what we term ‘calling of saints’. He claimed he paid a hundred and fifty Ghana cedi to the man in order to be taught everything he was to know to successfully gain from that venture of divination. During his initiation, he caught a chick and was asked by the man to speak what he wished to gain from the divination. The chick died immediately after he spoke unto it.  (The god involved he called and sought after in his dealings was Jupiter – yes, the god of that planet Jupiter.)

For a while, he needed the man to take him through all the procedures or rites in calling the spirit and what to do to please him. It did not take quite long to learn and for him to start doing everything all on his own. He described to me how he used to call the god and how it used to manifest itself to him.

He used to draw certain symbols on the ground, light candles and use padlocks all in a specific pattern in order to seek the presence of the god. He drew the symbols he made on the floor in my book and indicated on it where he placed the candles and padlocks. According to him, when he called the god, it first sent a snake – a python – which would hiss at him in an attempt to check if his heart is strong enough and there’s no fear in him. It would continue to hiss at him while moving around him. It would then lick all around him as if to fortify him for the presence of the god, and then leave. After the snake leaves, a tiger appears. It is not as if these things appeared on a screen to him. He experienced these things physically in his room and those animals came in physical form and could be seen, smelt and touched! The tiger would roar at him and show its fangs at him. He explained that this was to check if there was no fear in him, for the god Jupiter was a very strong and frightful god. The tiger would then lick him all over for fortification and then leave his room. Finally, the god would then appear and ask him of what he wanted. If one was full of fear at sighting the god, the person was to immediately become demented.

He elaborated to me what he used his divination to gain. He said that he used it mainly in getting girls, for protection and also to play good football. I asked him what about academics but he replied that he believed academics were dependent on one’s own abilities. I was told that he had slept with many girls. Some even between the ages of 20 to 28 years – he’s now 17 years. He continued to say how he was able to get the girls to fall for him. He described how he used the padlock by mentioning the girl’s name and his intention and then locking the padlock. I was surprised when he said he even did it to some so-called ‘strong Christians’, explaining that they behaved spiritually strong but in actual reality, they even had weaker spirits than the ordinary person. He said only on few occasions he was not able to lock the padlock because those girls were actually devoted Christians. I urge you all reading this to get serious with God because he is the only assurance of protection. Don’t believe that because you can prophesy or heal others, automatically means you are spiritually safe. Fellow brethren, run to God!

I continued to listen to how he also captured girls besides the use of the padlock. He spoke of calling a spirit called ‘Mary’ which looks very much like the Catholic Mary except she reveals herself nude to those that call her – he emphasized that he does not know if that spirit was the image of the Catholic Mary. He said she appears naked and when she appears and one erects, the person will go mad. He said this spirit Mary would help him get the girls he wanted.

He went on further to say he used to call these spirits at midnight time when everyone at home was busily asleep. Sometimes the spirit asked him to go to the cemetery and pick up a ring it had left there for him to use and he would wake up and leave home at that odd hour to the cemetery to retrieve the ring. He also said that on normal days and hours when he is going somewhere and there is unknown danger ahead, the spirit instigated him not to continue the journey.

I asked if he had sought God and his deliverance and he answered positively. He claimed to have even gone for a deliverance session at one of the churches of a popular pastor in Ghana. He told me he just called the spirit and therefore it did not live in him unlike some others who the spirit resided in them. I told him not to be deceived that it was in him and he needed the touch of God. By the grace and mercy of God, he got delivered of this spirit! He now has no connection with that spirit Jupiter and any other spirit he used to involve in his divination activities! Hallelujah!

I started sharing my devotional and bible with him as well as encouraging him to pray and establish a stronger relationship with God. I also spoke of spiritual experiences I and other people have had in order to strengthen his faith.

 

Now to address this issue of occultism and divination, let’s look at these verses from the Bible;

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,”

 1 Corinthians 6:9 (KJV)

 

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Revelations 21:8 (KJV)

 

“¹⁴Blessed are they that do his commandments,  that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. ¹⁵For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

Rev 22:14-15 (KJV)

 

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,”

“³Thou shalt have no other gods before me. ⁴Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁵Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them …”

These are but a few of many instances where the Word of God is against idolaters. There is no need for elaboration here; the Bible has clearly stated that the kingdom of God is closed to diviners and idolaters.

Yet again I wish to reveal another Word my father gave to us just this morning during devotion to talk about this.

 

“²⁶And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. ²⁷So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ²⁸And God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

My father explained to me that we were created of God in his likeness and that we are His children not by blood but by His will (John 1:13). If God is the greatest and we are his children: the only creation He used his hands to create unlike other creations that He just spoke the Word, don’t you see how powerful and great God has made you be? Yet, we kowtow and worship smaller gods and powers who do not match up to us. In another sense, I highlighted the keywords from the verses of the first chapter of Genesis. God created us to take dominion over all creation and subdue it. We should be overseers and managers of his creation. During my sixteen years stay in this world, I have never seen a manager of an organization kowtow a common employee or being ordered around by an employee and I believe that’s never the case anywhere. Then why do we go against the Word of God, and worship gods and spirits that we are supposed to have dominion over and subdue according to God’s original plan?

Yet,

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9 (KJV)

 

Indeed, none is righteous yet if we diligently seek God, He will cleanse us from all our sins and forgive our every wrong. There should be a confession of sins before our sins can be cleansed. The Bible says from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Therefore from the abundance of the regret and sorry-feeling we have, our mouth confesses and asks for forgiveness. When we are truly sorry for our wrongs, God forgives us of every sin and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

 

“⁷ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ⁸Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. ⁹Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.”

James 4:7-9 (KJV)

 

We need to get on our knees, and from the deepest parts of our heart, completely submit ourselves to God. It won’t be easy, that’s the truth, but you need to endure. It helps to surround yourself with people of God who will always encourage you and help you walk the right way. Also, we must resist the devil and run, in fact, fly away from sin no matter how addicted we are to it and move to God. Like I say, when we take a step to God, God takes two steps towards us. What the Word means is that we should be repentant and regret our past. We should draw nigh to Him and believe in His redemption and grace.

I pray in the mighty name of Jesus loosing every connection anyone reading this message has with any occult group or the devil. I pray for God’s saving grace to redeem you and put you on the right path, which is the one leading to Him. May you experience the joy that is in Christ.
